CEO's get cancer too

What did all the following men have in common?
  • Rudy Giuliani
  • Warren Buffett
  • Billy Graham
  • John Kerry
  • Norman Schwarzkopf
  • Joe Torre
  • Bob Dole
  • Colin Powell
  • Arnold Palmer
They are famous men who battled Prostate Cancer and survived. The list continues to grow.

This year in the United States, approximately 230,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer.

24,000 men will die next year from prostate cancer.

That means that a new case will occur every 2 minutes and 30 seconds and a son, father or grandfather will die every 15 minutes from the disease.

Do you have any ideas about prevention, symptoms, history, treatments or how to cope with these threats?

Eczema misdiagnosis turns out to be cancer

Many Dermatological Diagnoses Indicate Eczema Rather than CTCL Cancer

CTCL is a rare cancer that is found in approximately 40,000 people in the U.S and 20,000 in Canada. It is believed that the number of cases is significantly higher because there is a frequent misdiagnosis of the disease since it may initially present itself as a rash or eczema.

What is Cutaneous Lymphoma? - CTCL

Cutaneous lymphomas are a distinct subset of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. They are cancers of white blood cells that primarily involve the skin.
  • Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) is the most common type of cutaneous lymphoma that typically presents with red, scaly patches or thickened plaques of skin that often mimic eczema or chronic dermatitis.
Progression from limited skin involvement may be accompanied by tumor formation, ulceration, and exfoliation, complicated by itching and infections. Advanced stages are defined by involvement of lymph nodes, peripheral blood and internal organs.

Living with Cutaneous Lymphoma - CTCL

If you have been living with cutaneous lymphoma, you know it can affect the way you feel. It also can affect how you live your life.

Symptoms and treatment side effects can make it hard to work or enjoy social time and hobbies. Some days you might feel sad, scared, or lonely. It may be hard to deal with the changes in your appearance.

Treating Cutaneous Lymphoma - CTCL

In treating cutaneous lymphomas, unlike most other cancers, physicians often use the same treatment repeatedly, such as light therapy and radiation. What worked once often will work again.

Patients with early stage disease can often achieve long-lasting remissions with skin-directed therapies. Therapies aimed at the skin are likely to be effective for a long time.
